Remote Phone Monitoring Sets FAQ
Wireless Phone Monitoring Sets FAQ
- What is the Spy Phone remote monitoring system?
- Our line of Spy Phone products were designed to provide a complete system for remotely-monitoring, remotely-recording, editing, analyzing and distributing the recorded messages through an electronic media.
An emphasis was given for simplicity and ease of use.
If you are an experienced P.I. or non professional novice you will be able to set up and use any one of the SpyPhone line of products in no time.
- Remotely Monitoring - explain that
- The system is an assembled set of transmitter and a receiver.
The transmitter is installed in a modified full functioning phone devices which are common and widely used.
The receiver part of the system is a modified Radio Scanner which can be used to receive and listen to the transmitted voice signal. Or optionally connected to a recorder (digital or cassette) to simultaneously monitor and record voice signal.
- How does the system looks like?
- The Spy Phone Monitoring System is an advanced telephone monitoring system disguised like an ordinary phone device.
Some of these items are looking and working like a regular phone devices found in almost every household. except they were modified to intercept and transmit the conversation of both sides of the phone line to a remote receiver.
Other items are modified telephone accessories with similar technology installed in them.
- What is the range of reception of the transmitted signal?
- The range to receive the signal using any one of our receivers is about 700 feet.
The range (distance) from the transmitter to the receiver (radio scanner) was measured in an open area with no barrier between the two.
The following conditions could affect the effective range:
- What powers the phone transmitter? Do I need to install AC adapter or batteries?
- No external AC adapter or batteries are required.
The phone transmitter is powered with the phone line current.
A unique electronic circuitry was developed to use limited power resources available from the phone line and still be able to produce strong enough signal which can be detected hundreds of feets (meters) away.
When the phone transmitter is 'ON' it consumes the same amount of current used by an ordinary phone device.
When 'OFF' there is nil current consumption.
- Is it dificult to install any of the Spy Phone products?
- To install any of the SpyPhone Monitoring devices (excluding the Miniature Phone Transmitter) all you have to do is plug the phone cord and the AC power cord (required with some items) and you're done. It's that simple.
- Is there any noise while listening / recording the conversation?
- There is no audible indication while listening or recording the conversation. No clicks, tones or hiss.
In fact there is no noise even when the recording devices (our line of digital or cassette recorders) starts or stops recording.
- What is the quality of the recording?
- You have more then one way to listen to the recorded messages.
Using the embedded speaker of the recording devices. (digital or cassette recorder) Using the included external earphones of our digital recorders.
You can also use the included accessories with our digital recorders (USB cord and software) to download the recorded messages to your PC. and then listen to the file with your PC speakers.
When using the external earphones or the PC's speakers the sound quality is far better then what you'll normally hear over the phone.
The external earphone and the PC's speakers are designed to produce and possibly exceeds the sound quality needed for music CD.
Also when the recorded messages are on your computer hard drive, you can use any sound editing software you have or use the one included with our digital recorders to manipulate both the quality and the content of the messages.
- How many hours two AAA batteries will last when used with digital recorders?
- This may vary depending the type of batteries, the recorder model and the way the recorder is used.
Alkaline batteries will last more then a "normal" non alkaline one. When the recorder is used in a continues recording or playback mode the butteries will last more hours then a combined usage time of "ON" and "off".
In general our tests show that fresh alkaline batteries will maintain power between 10 to 12 hours.
You are advised to use only alkaline batteries which will reduce the risk of corrosion or leaking batteries damaging any electronic devices.
When ever possible it is recommended to use an AC adaptor or USB plug connected to your PC - both available on this site for most of our digital recorders.
- Can i use rechargeable batteries with the radio scanner or the digital recorder?
- Yes - you can use AA size batteries with the radio scanner and AAA size one for the digital recorder.
Please note: you have to set up the radio scanner to use rechargeable batteries. Look at the booklets of the devices for more info.
- Is it possible to listen and record to the conversation at the same time?
- Yes - you have to use a two way splitter. connect the splitter to the earphone jack of the radio scanner. now you have two earphone jacks.
Use one of the jacks to connect the voice cord which goes to your recorder, and the second jack to plug the headphone / earphone.
- Can i use the phone transmitters with a phone line doubled with DSL internet connection?
- Yes - the phone transmitter will not interfere in any way with the normal function of DSL powered phone lines. no matter which company you are using or the speed of the connection you are provided with.
- Can I use a caller I.D. box or a phone device with a caller I.D. feature?
- Yes you can - both the phone transmitter and the caller I.D. feature with your phone will function properly. In fact some of our SpyPhone products have a caller I.D. as part of the item itself.
(Please note: you have to activate this service with your local phone company).
- Are there any interruption with the use of fax machine or cordless phone connected on the same line?
- No - fax pages can be received and send with no effect on the speed or the quality of the content. the same goes for any phone device (cordless or not) connected on the same line. also it does not matter how many phone devices are connected.
- Can i use any radio scanner to receive the transmitted signal from the phone transmitter?
- Possibly yes - The radio scanners sold on this site are modified versions of those found on the market today. the modification purposes are to improve range, quality and clarity of the received signal.
the radio scanners offered on this site are chosen and tuned for best performance in correlation with the phone transmitters.
Although you can use any scanner with the following radio scanner features it is not guaranteed to perform in the same sound quality range or any other indicated performance of radio scanners sold through this site.
Please note: we can not provide any tech support regarding the programming, installing, resetting, downloading recorded media to your PC or any other usage of items not purchased through this site.
- Can I use my recorder to record the received signal from the modified radio scanner?
- Probably yes. Although the quality and the clarity of the sound are not guarantied, any recorder with the following features will give you this option.
To record the received voice signal you have to connect the Radio Scanner to a Digital or Cassette recorder - also available on this site.
In order to record automatically the recorder must have:
- All Automatic Phone Monitoring System - Please explain.
- All Automatic means that you can set up the system to start recording and stop recording by itself. You do not need to press record on the recorder or turn the transmitter ON and Off.
You do not need to be at "location" to operate the system.
You can pick up the recorded messages at a later time most convenient to you.

We will try to accommodate any request technically possible.
- How secure is the transmitted voice signal?
- Although the transmitted signal is not coded it is relatively secure.
A: The frequencies in use are not in the range of regular radio programing like similar devices, therefore it won't be intercepted by AM or FM radio listeners.
B: The frequencies used are reserved frequencies for low power wireless applications.
C: There are 10 defrent frequencies to chose from the specified range of frequencies. (set by the manufacturer).
D: The transmitted signal is very stable - crystal controld hybrid circuit technology - which means no frequency migrating and optimum stability.
